I was walking around NO and randomly heard The Master, Ellis Marsalis was holding court. I ran through the quarter to get there and arrived 10mins late. Fully thinking they wouldnโ€™t let me in I ran upstairs because the place was packed and literally ran into Mr Marsalis as they were introducing him. We got a picture and I left in cloud 9. Tonight Iโ€™m playing 3 of 7 shows with his son @delfeayomarsalis 3 at Snug and 4 @keystonekorner this weekend. You canโ€™t tell me God doesnโ€™t answer prayers. 7 of mine are getting ready to come through for 2026. You canโ€™t make me doubt Him cuz I know too much about Him!!

First NYE gig in years. Literally, I canโ€™t rememb First NYE gig in years. Literally, I canโ€™t remember the last time I played. when I was a kid just getting into this music whenever I would get a call to play New Yearโ€™s Eve I felt like I had really made it. Like I was in demand! Now that Iโ€™m old and Iโ€™ve got so much to lose, I ainโ€™t really trying to be out here to deal with someoneโ€™s foolishness lol. Thatโ€™s why this gig is special. Great people great venue and they respect the music. Iโ€™m still old though so I only play until 11 oโ€™clock! Solo piano loading now ๐ŸŽน

What a time we had. 22 days, 20 shows, 2 postponed What a time we had. 22 days, 20 shows, 2 postponed due to snow (first time ever) and 1000+ smiles. On behalf of the boys in the band, THANK YOU. Thank you to Jon McCord our wonderful road manager who was with us on almost all the shows, taking time away from his family. Thank you to all the venues who create a space for us to do what we do. Every time I hear Jazz Is Dead, I laugh. Almost every show sold out, and everyone from kids to grandparents hearing us tap deeply into the wellspring of this music. VG created a soundtrack that changed all of our lives for the better and he did it through the power of a swung 1/8th note. It has endured generations. It stands up against any other piece of art for the last 60 years. Finally, thank you to all of you. We're going into year 25 with this band and I am grateful to God - I'm exhausted...but I'm grateful. It's a lot to put the band on the road, driving to and from, giving your 100% even when emotionally you're spent. But your energy, your stories, your families, your smiles give us life. After our Laurel show, a woman told me thank you and cried. Last night a middle school kid told me "that wasn't awful....I would hear you guys again." Another adult told me they don't listen to jazz, but they loved the music. I've already typed too much but we can't say thanks enough. Please tell your families and friends we're hitting our 25th year in 2026 strong. More ECHOES gigs, more smiles, more giggles. Vote for Pedro....I mean The Eric Byrd Trio this Wammy season.
