Who knows? Playing underneath a soloist is not an Who knows? Playing underneath a soloist is not an exact science. But I saw a video by @chickcorea where he said to think about your fingers as members of a big band. Therefore, comp like youโ€™re a big band with backgrounds. That makes sense to me but thereโ€™s never anything wrong with keeping it simple either. Less is more. I love contemporary music but give me a blues at this tempo with these cats and Iโ€™ll take that all day! #ericbyrdtrio #getinthatshed

I think trusting my hand placement is also a benefit by keeping my head up. I like watch the cats play and anticipate where they may take the music.
